It's only 9:30 in the morning but it has already been a very busy day on the farm. Today is chicken processing day. We have our chickens processed at Baffoni's Chicken Farm in Rhode Island because they are USDA approved and you must have your chickens processed at a USDA inspected facility if you intend to sell them. Baffoni's takes care of the undesirable task of turning live chickens into future family dinners, we had the undesirable task of getting 75 live chickens to Rhode Island for 6:30 in the morning. This meant getting up at 3:30 in the morning to get the chickens into crates. It's very exhausting work but it is very rewarding knowing that at least a portion of the food that my family eats was raised with care.
